Safety Guidelines for a Chat Room

1. Respect and Etiquette

- Be Respectful: Treat all participants with kindness and respect. Avoid any form of harassment, discrimination, or offensive behavior.

- Use Appropriate Language: Refrain from using profanity, hate speech, or any language that could be considered offensive or inflammatory.

2. Privacy and Confidentiality

- Protect Personal Information: Do not share your personal information (e.g., full name, address, phone number, email) or anyone else's.

- Respect Others' Privacy: Do not ask for personal information from other participants. Respect their privacy and boundaries.

3. Content Sharing

- Share Responsibly: Ensure that any content you share (links, images, videos, text) is appropriate and not harmful, offensive, or illegal.

- Avoid Spam: Do not flood the chat with repetitive messages, advertisements, or irrelevant content.

4. Security Measures

- Report Suspicious Activity: Immediately report any suspicious behavior, harassment, or rule violations to the chat room moderators or administrators.

- Be Cautious with Links: Be wary of clicking on links shared by others, especially if they seem suspicious or are from untrusted sources.

5. Moderation and Compliance

- Follow Moderator Instructions: Adhere to the guidelines and instructions provided by chat room moderators.

- Compliance with Rules: Follow all chat room rules and policies. Violations may result in warnings, temporary bans, or permanent removal from the chat room.

6. Positive Engagement

- Encourage Constructive Discussions:** Foster a positive environment by engaging in constructive and meaningful conversations.

- Supportive Behavior: Offer support and assistance to others when needed, promoting a sense of community and camaraderie.

7. Intimate Media

-Do not share, distribute, or create sexually explicit or sexually suggestive content of other people without the subject’s consent. This includes the non-consensual distribution of intimate media that was created either with or without an individual’s consent.

8. Physical Harm

-Do not share content that glorifies, promotes, or normalizes suicide or other acts of physical self-harm. This includes content that encourages others to cut, burn, or starve themselves, as well as content that normalizes eating disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia. Self-harm acts or threats used as a form of emotional manipulation or coercion are also prohibited.

9. Excessive Violence

-Do not share real media depicting gore, excessive violence, or animal harm, especially with the intention to harass or shock others.

10.  Safety & Reporting

The best way to report unsupportive, unprofessional behavior or spam on MindPlay is by using:

“Block the Conversation” button at the top of the 1 on 1 Chat box

The “Block/Report” button under to the Options menu in the private chatrooms

Please keep in mind that your reports are confidential and your usernames are kept anonymous. The account you reported won’t see who reported them

11.  Age-Appropriate Content

- Respect Age Restrictions: Ensure that the content and discussions are suitable for the age group of the chat room participants.

- Parental Guidance: For chat rooms open to minors, encourage parental guidance and supervision.

12. Exploiting Children

-Do not solicit sexual content from or engage in any sexual conduct with anyone under the age of 18. We report child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and grooming to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which may subsequently work with local law enforcement.

13. Legal Compliance

- Adhere to Laws: Follow all applicable local, state, national, and international laws while participating in the chat room.

- Prohibited Activities:** Avoid engaging in illegal activities, including but not limited to sharing pirated content, engaging in cyberbullying, or spreading malware.

14. Dangerous Goods

-Do not organize, promote, or engage in the selling or facilitation of sales of regulated or potentially dangerous goods. Regulated goods have laws in place that restrict the purchase, sale, trade, or ownership of the goods. Dangerous goods have a reasonable potential to cause real-world, physical harm to individuals.

15. Human Trafficking

-Do not organize, promote, or engage in any other illegal activity, such as human trafficking or sexual solicitation.

16. Technical Security

- Use Strong Passwords: Protect your account with a strong, unique password and update it regularly.

- Secure Devices: Ensure that the devices you use to access the chat room are secure and have updated antivirus software.

17. Enforcement and Consequences

- Monitoring: Chat room activities may be monitored to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

- Consequences: Violations of these guidelines may result in temporary or permanent suspension from the chat room, depending on the severity of the offense.

By participating in this chat room, you agree to abide by these safety guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

If you see any content or activity that violates these Guidelines, our Terms of Service, or our other policies, please report it to us. You can learn more on how to report to us here. However, please note that we strongly discourage and may take action against vigilantism, as this behavior can put individuals in harm’s way and can also interfere with our investigations and ability to report to law enforcement.

The Guidelines will evolve, allowing action against accounts, groups, or content that violate their spirit, even if not explicitly covered. Efforts will be made to notify users of updates, but users are responsible for adhering to the spirit of the Guidelines to keep Xlapchat safe and enjoyable.  Thanks for doing your part.‍
